Bill Parcells says he is not taking seriously the somewhat disparaging comments issued by his former boss, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, and caught on tape by a hidden camera.
"I know how he really feels about me," Parcells said Wednesday by phone during a break in draft meetings of the Miami Dolphins, where he now serves as executive vice president of football operations.
Jones said Parcells "wasn't worth a (expletive)" and he hired him to coach the Cowboys only to sell tickets for his new stadium. He also mentioned "I love him" while talking about the coach who left under amicable circumstances following the 2006 season. Parcells still uses the cell phone with the Dallas area code that Jones gave him when he left the Cowboys.
"We still have a good one," Parcells said of his relationship with Jones, who slurred his words while discussing his former coach and Florida quarterback Tim Tebow on the video posted on Deadspin.com. "I think he was just pulling some guy's leg. I'm not upset with it at all. He didn't mean it."
