2 arrested for drug offenses on Big Island
Big Island police said a Kailua, Kona woman and California man were arrested for drug offenses on Monday following a traffic stop at 10 a.m. on Route 190 near the Waikoloa junction.
Investigators from the Area II Vice Section served a search warrant on the sedan the pair occupied and police recovered 11 grams of crystal methamphetamine and a glass-smoking pipe containing marijuana.
Hazel Silva, 24, and Tuivai Uele, 26, were each charged with one count of meth trafficking, promoting a dangerous drug, promoting a detrimental drug and two counts of drug paraphernalia.
Police said Silva's bail was set at $56,250 for the drug offenses and she also was arrested and charged on a bench warrant with bail set at $300. Uele's bail was set at $281,000.
Police said the drugs have an estimated street value of $3,500.
