Big Island man charged with meth offenses

Hawaii Tribune-Herald

A Hawaiian Paradise Park man with multiple felony convictions is facing numerous methamphetamine-related charges.

A Hilo grand jury on March 24 indicted Leonard Adam Kaleo Bidad II, 47, on multiple counts of drug trafficking. A bench warrant was issued March 29 for Bidad's arrest, with bail set at $342,000.

According to the indictment, the alleged offenses took place between Jan. 12 and Jan. 27, 2009.

"There were six controlled buys from Mr. Bidad," said Lt. Richard Sherlock, commander of the Hilo Vice Section. "Two were for an 'eight-ball,' an eighth of an ounce of 'ice.' There were three more buys for two eight-balls on each buy — so about a fourth of an ounce. The last buy was for an ounce. So we had six different purchases."

Sherlock said the investigation of Bidad took about 2 1/2 months.
