LIHUE, Hawaii — A survey asking Kauai residents about actions they would take during a hurricane or tsunami will be mailed to randomly selected households in April.
The survey sponsored by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Civil Defense will be conducted by SMS Research.
Kauai County Civil Defense Administrator Mark Marshall said Wednesday that the results of the survey will be used in preparedness and response planning for hurricanes, tsunamis and other hazards.
Garden Island families, care home operators, homeless shelter operators and hotels may receive phone calls and mailers regarding the survey. Participation is voluntary but encouraged by Civil Defense officials.
