Kapiolani Park stabbing suspect released

A 39-year-old man who was arrested Monday in connection with a stabbing at Kapiolani Park was released yesterday without charges.
Kevin K. Fish was arrested Monday afternoon on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder. He also was booked on three drug-related charges.
But late yesterday, Fish was released pending further investigation. It was not immediately known why he was released from custody.
Earlier yesterday, however, Honolulu Police and CrimeStoppers issued a bulletin seeking the public’s help in finding the man responsible for the stabbing. Police said at about 4:40 p.m. Monday, a man stabbed a 43-year-old man who was asleep on a bench near the Kapiolani Park Bandstand.
The man was taken to The Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition. Fish was arrested shortly after the incident near the Waikiki Shell.
Police described the suspect as in his 30s, 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 8, 170 to 180 pounds with short brown hair. The suspect, who had a tan complexion and was clean shaven, was wearing an aloha shirt with white and tan print, and brown shorts, police said.
