Monkeypod trees to replace decaying ironwoods in park

Advertiser Staff

City crews will begin removing six decayed ironwood trees in the parking lot of Kailua District Park on Kailua Road starting in mid-October.

The trees will be replaced with five monkeypod trees. The plan has the support of the Outdoor Circle, the Lani-Kailua Outdoor Circle and the Kailua Neighborhood Board.

In other parts of the island, crews today will begin planting 12 narra trees at the Keehi Lagoon Park parking lot.
