Sales close soon for Lanakila Meals on Wheels benefit

Advertiser Staff

The public has until Oct. 6 to purchase tables for The Good Table, a benefit for Lanakila Meals on Wheels, Hawaii’s largest, nonprofit meal-delivery service for the elderly.

The Oct. 22 synchronized dining event will feature more than 50 Oahu restaurants ranging from fine-dining establishments to casual eateries.
The economic downturn has escalated the critical need for senior services. Because of funding shortfalls, hundreds of seniors remain on waiting lists before they can get meals, and the list continues to grow. Lanakila will use the monies raised through The Good Table to directly fund the shortfall and deliver more meals to Hawaii’s elderly.

“We are very excited about the response this event has received so far,” said Marian Tsuji, president and CEO of Lanakila Pacific. “And we would like to encourage everyone who wishes to support the program or would simply enjoy a memorable night out with good food and friends to purchase tables before we close out sales.”
Tables are available in various categories, ranging from the top table for six at Alan Wong’s Restaurant to a variety of family restaurants for four, available for $120.
Diners purchase tables in pre-designated categories and will be notified of their restaurant selection after table sales are closed. If a diner wishes to select a specific restaurant and not be placed in the drawing, there is an option to do so at an extra fee.
The top table is available at Alan Wong’s Restaurant. This table for six will feature an Appetizer Quartet, Coconut Butter Poached Lobster, Ginger Crusted Onaga, Beef “Wellington” and a Dessert Duet and is available for $2,500.
Chef-designed prix fixe menus for other restaurants can be found at www.thegoodtablehawaii.org.

The difference between the donation from the purchase of tables and retail value of meals is tax deductible.
Patrons who purchase tables will receive information about the event and the tax deduction from Lanakila.

Participating restaurants include 12th Avenue Grill, 3660 on the Rise, Azul, Big City Diners, BluWater Grill, Bombay India, Brasserie Du Vin, Café Laufer, Duke’s Waikiki, Elua Restaurant & Wine Bar, Formaggio Grill & Wine Bar, Grand Café, Gyotaku Japanese Restaurants, Hakone, Hank’s Haute Dogs, Hoku’s, Indigo, JJ Dolan’s, John Dominis Restaurant, Ka’Ikena Restaurant at KCC, Kaiwa, Kakaako Kitchen, Le Guignol, Le Bistro, Longhi’s, Mac 24/7, Maple Garden, Mariposa, Max’s of Manila, Michel’s at the Colony Surf, Mini Garden, Mr. Ojisan, Nobu Waikiki, Ola at the Turtle Bay Resort, On On at McCully, Orchids, Pineapple Room, Roy’s Restaurants, Sansei Seafood Restaurant, d.k Steakhouse, Side Street Inn, Soul de Cuba, Stage Restaurant, Tango Contemporary Café, Chef Eric at Pacific Club, The Prince Court, Tiki’s Grill & Bar, Top of Waikiki, Town, Twist at Hanohano, Vino, Willow’s, Xpress Chefs, Zaffron and Zippy’s.
