LONDON — British Cycling says rider Jonny Bellis is in stable condition in a medically induced coma following a scooter crash in Italy.
The 21-year-old Bellis, who was the youngest participant in the Olympic road race last year, was earlier listed as critical following the crash near his training base on Saturday morning.
He was being treated in the CTO hospital in Florence on Tuesday.
Bellis won a bronze medal in the under-23 world road championships in 2007. He rides for Danish team Saxo Bank and is one of a group of promising young riders from the Isle of Man.
