NFL: Former Packer Whisper Goodman charged in assault

OSHKOSH, Wis. — A former Green Bay Packers running back faces charges including strangulation and false imprisonment stemming from a domestic dispute in July.
Herbert Whisper Goodman, who played a dozen games for the Packer in 2000-2001, turned himself in to authorities in Appleton on Monday.
According to court documents, a woman told police she confronted Goodman and asked him to leave the home in Menasha. The woman told police that Goodman then locked her in a room, blocked her exit and at one point pinned her to the floor. He's accused of choking her and smashing her forehead into a closet door.
Goodman told police he blocked a doorway but said the incident only involved "minor pushing or shoving."
Goodman's attorney, Brad Priebe, says it's early on in the case and "things are not always what they seem at first."
