METAIRIE, La. — The New Orleans Saints have brought back kick return specialist and reserve receiver Courtney Roby.
General manager Mickey Loomis announced the signing on Tuesday and said tight end Buck Ortega was waived to make room on the roster.
Roby, now in his fourth year in the NFL, signed with the Saints during the 2008 season and served as the team’s primary kickoff returner for five games before his season ended with an ankle injury.
He averaged 24.8 yards on 19 kickoff returns for the Saints last season.
The 6-foot, 189-pound former Indiana standout entered the league as the Tennessee Titans’ 2005 third-round draft choice and also has played for the Indianapolis Colts.
