CFB: LaSecla named starting QB for San Jose State

SAN JOSE, Calif. — San Jose State coach Dick Tomey named junior Jordan LaSecla as his starting quarterback for Saturday’s game at Stanford.
LaSecla took over for starter Kyle Reed at the end of the first quarter in the Spartans’ 24-14 loss to Utah on Saturday. He completed 21 of 33 passes for 242 yards and a touchdown.
LaSecla and Reed, who started the majority of games last year, were locked in a duel through fall camp.
Defensive end Mohamed Marah, who missed the Utes’ game with a shoulder injury, has a labium tear and is seeking a second opinion. If it requires surgery, the senior will miss the season.
