Scuba diver dies despite CPR by companions on boat
A scuba diver died yesterday while diving in about 100 feet of water off of the Wai'anae Coast.
The man appeared to be in his 70s, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department. The diver's companions were able to get him into the boat, begin cardiopulmonary resuscitation and call for an ambulance at about 1:20 p.m.
The man was brought to the Wai'anae boat harbor, where city paramedics treated him and transported him to a hospital. Cheplic said the man was pronounced dead a short while later.
