Former UH volleyball star Willoughby suspended two years for doping

ROME — Former University of Hawaii volleyball player Kim Willoughby has received a two-year suspension for a doping offense from the Italian Olympic Committee.
Willoughby tested positive for nandrolone after a match for her Italian team Perugia in April 2009. She played on the U.S. team that won the silver medal at the Beijing Olympics last summer.
The suspension announced today runs until July 10, 2011.
The outside hitter from Napoleonville, La., played for the Rainbow Wahine from 2000-03. She was a three-time American Volleyball Coaches Association's All-American and earned player of the year in 2003.
