The University of Hawai'i said it expects no NCAA sanctions to result from the unauthorized use of the photos of two Rainbow Wahine volleyball players in game program and newspaper advertisements published by The Honolulu Advertiser.
Altered photos of Jayme Lee and another UH player appeared in an Aug. 29 advertisement for an auto dealership, and an ad in the program for the first volleyball tournament.
Athletic director Jim Donovan said it is an NCAA violation for photos or likenesses of current student-athletes to appear in advertisements. He said UH reported the incidents to the NCAA and expects no penalties.
"As far as the players and the team are concerned, the situation is behind them," Donovan said.
