KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A trust has been created to support the family of former Tennessee Titans and Tennessee Volunteers defensive tackle Jesse Mahelona.
The 26-year-old was killed in an automobile accident near his home in Kailua, Kona, early Saturday morning.
The vehicle Mahelona was driving struck a cement barrier and some construction equipment and was ejected.
Police say alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
Mahelona is survived by daughter Karter and his wife, Brandee, who is pregnant with the couple’s second child.
Agent Chad Speck says all donations to the Jesse Mahelona trust will go to the family. Information about the trust is available at www.jessestrust.com.
