Forest City reports losses narrow to $1.8 million in second quarter

Advertiser Staff

An Ohio-based construction company building military housing in Hawaii reported a loss of $1.8 million, or 1 cent per share, in the second quarter. That compared with a loss of $8.4 million, or 8 cents per share in the same period a year earlier.

The company, Forest City Enterprises, has contracts to build or refurbish about 7,000 Navy and Marine Corps homes at Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Kaneohe Bay, around Pearl Harbor and Manana. The Navy contributed some equity to the partnership.
Forest City reported second-quarter revenue of $316.7 million, up from $327.6 million the previous year. Revenue for the first half of the year totaled $629.8 million, down from $632.6 million for the six months ended July 31, 2008.
