Washington State, Hawaii's football opponent Saturday in Seattle, has said
it will cancel the 2011 meeting between the two schools at Aloha Stadium, UH
announced Monday.
The Cougars will pay $300,000 under the terms of the contract to cancel the
Nov. 26, 2011, game.
It was to have been the third meet of a there-game series. WSU played at
Aloha Stadium last season, a 24-10 UH victory.
UH athletic director Jim Donovan said he received a letter from Washington
State notifying its intent to cancel the game.
“Even though this wasn’t a contract that was done during my tenure,
Washington State has notified us they will comply with the buyout terms so
our job now is to find a replacement game,” Donovan said.
WSU officials were not immediately available for comment.
