The American Resort Development Association-Hawaii chapter recently donated $10,000 for a travel industry scholarship at Hawai'i Pacific University during the fifth annual ARDA-Hawaii Golf Tournament Aug. 21 at the Honolulu Country Club. The 2009 scholarship recipient is Jaclyn Saramosing, a full-time HPU student and 'Ewa Beach resident who also works as a flight attendant for Island Air. Read more at www.myadvertiser.com/ewa.

Wheeler Middle's new photovoltaic system cuts costs, promotes learning
Wheeler Middle School will begin the school year with reduced monthly utility costs thanks to a recently completed photovoltaic system provided by the Hawaiian Electric Sun Power for Schools program. Xcel International donates $9,000 to Cancer Research Center of Hawai'i
