One reason it is returning is because Bamp Project brought The Fray in two years ago to play Band Camp V, right before the pop rockers made it big. ...

A sendoff gig is being held at Red Lion University tonight for Waipahu ska-rock band Pimpbot, which is leaving soon for a two-week tour overseas performing for U.S. troops and their families. Pimpbot was chosen by U.S. Armed Forces Entertainment to perform in Guam, Japan, South Korea and Okinawa. Doors open at 9:30 p.m. and there's a $5 cover. Missing Dave will also be performing. ...

Local promoter and radio deejay Tom Moffatt's nomination for the National Radio Hall of Fame fell short. Moffatt was nominated earlier this summer, but was passed over for Atlanta-based Neal Boortz, who has a nationally syndicated show; nationally syndicated Dr. Demento; Norman Pattiz, founder and chairman of Westwood One; Washington, D.C.-based Ed Walker; and Washington, D.C.-based Wendy Williams, formerly of "The Wendy Williams Experience." "It was a long shot with all of the other people being from bigger markets," Moffatt said, "but it was quite an honor just to get nominated."
