NFL: Saints TE Miller has a torn Achilles’ tendon

METAIRIE, La. — New Orleans Saints tight end Billy Miller has a torn right Achilles tendon, which he says has likely ended his 10th season before the regular season even started.
The injury occurred during the second quarter of the Saints’ final preseason game Thursday night against Miami.
Miller, who was using crutches on Friday, said it felt like someone kicked him in the back of his right foot. When he looked around, he said no one was there.
The 32-year-old Miller said he expects to have surgery next week and looks at his upcoming layoff as a chance for him to get completely healthy.
Miller said the thought of his career being over does not creep into his mind at all. Last season, Miller caught 45 passes for 579 yards and one touchdown.
