Nonprofit hired to help choose next police chief
The Honolulu Police Commission has hired the nonprofit International Association of Chiefs of Police to serve as a consultant in the selection of a new police chief.
The announcement was made at yesterday's commission meeting by chairwoman Christine H.H. Camp. The consultant will help with the testing of applicants.
Camp said the commission hopes to name a successor to former chief Boisse Correa by the end of the year.
Correa left the chief's post last month after the commission declined to give him a second five-year term.
Deputy Chief Paul Putzulu is serving as acting chief.
