WAILUKU — Maui police say an 83-year-old Wailuku man died yesterday as a result of injuries suffered in a traffic accident Tuesday.

Katsuto Saiki was the driver of a 1991 Nissan sedan that collided with a 2001 Toyota sport utility vehicle on Kahului Beach Road at the intersection of the Kahului boat ramp entrance/exit.
Police said both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
The driver of the SUV, a 42-year-old Pukalani man, was treated at the scene and released.
Saiki was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center, where he died.
Saiki is Maui’s 12th traffic-related fatality of the year, compared to 14 at the same time last year.
