BALTIMORE — It wasn't enough that Camden Yards sounded like Yankee Stadium. It also played like that new palace in the Bronx, much to the delight of the Yankees and their fans.

Jorge Posada homered twice, and Nick Swisher and Eric Hinske hit successive drives in a three-run seventh inning that carried New York past the Baltimore Orioles, 9-6, last night.

Robinson Cano also connected for Yankees, who will try to complete a three-game sweep today. New York came to town after taking three in a row from the Chicago White Sox.

The five home runs tied a season high for the Yankees. Much of the crowd of 25,782 was cheering for New York, so all those long balls made the Yankees feel even more at home in Baltimore.

"It seems like the Orioles fans are not here, so we have a lot of Yankees fans here," Posada said. "With this lineup, it seems like we don't die down. It's good to see."

With the score 6-all, Cano led off the seventh with a double off Chris Ray (0-3). Swisher then homered to center, his 23rd of the season and second in two games. Two pitches later, Hinske homered to left.

RED SOX 8, RAYS 4:

Jason Bay, J.D. Drew and Kevin Youkilis hit home runs, and Jonathan Papelbon worked out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the bottom of the eighth and pitched a perfect ninth for his 33rd save for Boston.

TWINS 4, WHITE SOX 3:

Michael Cuddyer hit solo homers in the fifth and seventh innings, and pinch-hitter Jose Morales singled home Nick Punto from third base with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to lift Minnesota over Chicago.

TIGERS 8, INDIANS 5:

Placido Polanco and Carlos Guillen homered on successive pitches to trigger a four-run bottom of the first, and Brandon Inge hit a two-run shot in the sixth, leading Detroit over Cleveland for its second straight win.

MARINERS 2, ANGELS 1:

Rookie Doug Fister (2-1) gave up one run and five hits in 7 1/3 innings, and Jose Lopez had a two-out double in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Seattle over AL West-leading Los Angeles.

RANGERS SWEEP BLUE JAYS:

Josh Hamilton hit a solo homer and a two-run shot as host Texas beat Toronto, 5-2, to complete a doubleheader sweep. In the opener, Ian Kinsler hit a homer and Chris Davis had a two-run single in a 5-2 victory.

ROYALS 4, ATHLETICS 3:

Alberto Callaspo hit a go-ahead two-run single in the top of the sixth, and Kyle Davies (6-9) gave up a run on four hits in six innings to win consecutive starts for the first time all season to lead visiting Kansas City.

SHORT HOPS

Mariners: Seattle outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. is having an MRI to find out why his surgically repaired knee still hurts. Manager Don Wakamatsu said that Griffey has been having pain in a new place in his knee. He hasn't played since Thursday.

Royals: Kansas City activated outfielder Jose Guillen from the 15-day disabled list, more than a month after he injured his knee putting on a shin guard. Guillen wasn't in the lineup last night, but is expected to play as the DH today.
