Man arrested in robbery of Bishop Street business
A homeless man was arrested as a suspect in a Downtown Honolulu robbery case about 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Police were told the man, 41, entered a business on Bishop Street, took a can of beer from the shelf and was seen hiding it under his clothing.
Store employees said they confronted the man after he left the store without paying for the beer. They said the man picked up a folding stool and tried to strike them with it before they were able to overpower him.
The employees detained the man until police arrived and arrested him on suspicion of first-degree robbery.
