CINCINNATI — Quarterback Tony Pike is having the cast on his left arm modified so he'll have a better chance to play for No. 5 Cincinnati.
Pike sat out a 41-10 victory over Louisville on Saturday, four days after having surgery on his non-throwing forearm. He had a plate replaced in the arm, and a bulky cast was applied. He practiced only a little during the week, and sophomore Zach Collaros ran the offense smoothly against the Cardinals.
Coach Brian Kelly said Monday that Pike would have the cast modified later in the day. Kelly plans to see how he can function in practice on Tuesday, then go from there as Cincinnati (7-0) prepares for a game Saturday at Syracuse (3-4).
