Fujikawa tied for sixth in PGA first-stage qualifier

Tadd Fujikawa followed an opening-round 68 with a 1-under-par 71 yesterday in the PGA Tour Qualifying's first stage at St. Johns Golf & Country Club in St. Augustine, Fla.
Fujikawa, 18, a Moanalua High graduate, is tied for sixth at the halfway point at 5-under 139.
Tyler Hitchcock, from Orlando, Fla., fired a 63 to grab a share of the lead with Ohio's Garrett Frank at 135.
Leilehua and University of Hawai'i-Hilo graduate Nick Mason is tied for second at the First Stage in McKinney, Texas. The reigning Hawai'i State Open champion fired his second straight 71 yesterday and is two shots off the lead.
At Dayton Valley Country Club in Dayton, Nev., former Rainbow Matt Kodama is on the bubble. He shares 24th after a second-round 70 left him at 139.
At the First Stage in Port St. Lucie, Fla., former Warrior Pierre-Henri Soero had a 75 and fell to 39th. Chad Saladin, the 2004 Hawai'i State Open champ, dropped to 44th at The Auburn University Club in Alabama with his second straight 74.
The top 22 after tomorrow's final rounds advance to Second Stage except for Auburn, where 21 advance.
