A man who appeared to be in his 70s was pulled from ocean waters fronting the Shore Bird Restaurant in the Outrigger Reef Hotel and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital a short time later, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department.
Cheplic said city paramedics were sent to the hotel at 2199 Kalia Road about at 12:40 p.m. and found bystanders already performing CPR on the man.
The victim was unresponsive when paramedics arrived, Cheplic said.
