EAST LANSING, Mich. — Michigan State owns a two-game winning streak against Michigan for the first time since 1967.

Freshman Larry Caper ran for a 23-yard touchdown in overtime to give the Spartans a 26-20 victory over the No. 22 Wolverines yesterday. Michigan State hadn't beaten Michigan twice in a row since winning three straight from 1965-67.

"We did something that hasn't been done in 42 years," coach Mark Dantonio said. "That's amazing. But facts are facts. This game has a way of defining you."

The Spartans (2-3, 1-1 Big Ten) won at Michigan last season for the first time since 1990. It was a bigger party in East Lansing, as players and coaches swarmed Caper in the north end zone after his game-winning run.

The big play was a third-down rush that still would have left Michigan State within field goal range if it hadn't succeeded. But the zone blocking worked out so well Caper scampered all the way to the end zone.

"Honestly, I don't remember the play," Caper said. "But it was a surreal feeling."

Michigan (4-1, 1-1) did not go down easy. The Wolverines had until recently dominated the last four decades of the century-old series. They hold a 67-30-5 all-time edge.

Tate Forcier had two fourth-quarter touchdown passes for Michigan to come from 14 points down and force OT in the Wolverines' first road game of the season. The freshman hit Roy Roundtree for a 9-yard score with 2 seconds left in regulation.

But Forcier was intercepted by Michigan State's Chris L. Rucker off a deflection in the end zone on the first possession of overtime, keeping the Wolverines from scoring.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Mark Ingram ran for a career-high 140 yards and two touchdowns, and quarterback Greg McElroy added a pair of scoring passes as the Crimson Tide (5-0, 2-0 SEC) pulled away from the Wildcats (2-2, 0-2), scoring 24 points in just over 5 minutes.

ATHENS, Ga. — Charles Scott scored on a 33-yard run with 46 seconds remaining to lift the Tigers (5-0, 3-0 SEC) over the Bulldogs (3-2, 2-1), who took a 13-12 lead on Joe Cox's 16-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Green with 1:09 left, before missing a 2-point conversion.

NO. 6 VIRGINIA TECH 34, DUKE 26

DURHAM, N.C. — Tyrod Taylor threw for 327 yards and two touchdowns, and Josh Oglesby had two late touchdown runs as the Hokies (4-1, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) beat the Blue Devils (2-3, 0-1) for the ninth straight time.

BERKELEY, Calif. — Joe McKnight ran for 119 yards and scored two touchdowns, Damian Williams returned a punt for a touchdown and the Trojans (4-1, 2-1 Pac-10) raced to a 20-0 halftime lead in cruising past the Golden Bears (3-2, 0-2).

MIAMI — Jacory Harris survived a shaky start to throw three touchdown passes and Javarris James ran for a career-high 150 yards against the nation's top rush defense, helping the Hurricanes (3-1) knock off the Sooners (2-2).

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Terrelle Pryor threw three touchdown passes and rushed for another score, leading the Buckeyes (4-1, 2-0 Big Ten) over the Hoosiers (3-2, 0-2) for their 16th straight Big Ten road win.

NO. 10 CINCINNATI 37, MIAMI (OHIO) 13

OXFORD, Ohio — Jacob Ramsey ran for 103 yards and three touchdowns and Tony Pike went 23 of 42 for 270 yards and two passing touchdowns to power the Bearcats (5-0) past the RedHawks (0-5) in front of the biggest crowd (23,493) at Yager Stadium in six years.
