THE SPREAD OF IN4MATION
The In4mants keep growing. With a third In4mation store and growing presence online, these boys are taking over. Their official grand opening at Pearlridge Center last week marks another chapter for the outfit.
"Our focus has been the same since we started in 2002. But we are not ever set in the way we do things, as we understand things are always evolving," says co-owner Todd Shimabuku.
The store is stocked with urban brands including their own In4mation label, Crooks & Castles, Hellz, Nike SB, Supra, and Cons-Converse Skateboarding. For street-wear, skate-wear, and even music, In4mation has become an urban lifestyle staple. The expansion into Pearlridge is just a sample of what's yet to come. Check out the new In4mation at Pearlridge Center, Uptown, second floor, next to Borders Books and Music; 488-0411, www.in4mants.com.

SENSUAL 'SUPPER'
With sensual movement and exotic tastes, IONA Contemporary Dance Theatre has put together a fundraiser to tantalize your senses and support the artistic dance troupe as it approaches its 20th year in the Islands. "The Kama Sutra Supper Club," based on 1950s-style supper clubs, combines food, dance and spirituality. The show, designed and choreographed by IONA artistic director Cheryl Flaharty in collaboration with Glenn Chu, head chef at Indigo Restaurant, features five dancers and food installations, steamy, modern dance and contemporary Indian cuisine. Guests can interact with dancers who will be costumed as deities.
"The Kama Sutra Supper Club" takes place on Sunday, Oct. 11, at Indigo Restaurant in Chinatown, an appropriately exotic setting. A silent auction begins at 6:30 p.m. and dinner with performance at 7:30 p.m. Individual tickets are $200 and support IONA's artistic endeavors year-round. For more information, contact IONA at 262-0110 or e-mail kamasutra@iona360.com.

GO UNDERGROUND
The Hawaii Underground Music Awards is going to be like the Grammys, only a lot more vulgar, and with a good chance of nudity. Started in 2006 to showcase the achievements of the local underground punk, metal, hardcore, indie and ska scene, the event, spearheaded by Otto of Otto Cake, is a big deal, complete with red carpet and a full panoply of local rockers seen in rare formal dress.
If that's not enough to draw you to this notorious annual event, there will be (possibly nude) performances by 86 List (bottom), Cherry Blossom Cabaret, Sabrina, Pray For Thunder, All Heart, Deadbeats and Black Square.
All guests will be expected to adhere to a formal dress code: gentlemen in suits and black ties, ladies in evening gowns or dresses. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Honolulu Academy of Arts. Hawaii Underground Music Awards, 4 p.m. today, Doris Duke Theatre; $10, all ages; 834-6886, www.myspace.com/humas2009.

BULLET/SHELLS
Sure, there is a stereotype that a majority of local girls wear shell jewelry and surf. But there's nothing wrong with that especially when you're wearing one of Rockabella Jewels' newest designs. Local jewelry designer Kristel Bandisch of Maui has taken dainty shell and stone jewelry to a new level by pairing it with bullet shells. Artillery might be dangerous but the sleek metal of the bullet casings makes for a great fashion statement. The combination of edge and nature makes this a must-have piece. "The bullet shells are recycled. They are old, spent shells from my boyfriend's hunting days," explains Bandisch. The line its witty name is Shoots can be found online at www.rockabellajewels.com or at Pink by Nature in Maui, 3663 Baldwin Ave., Makawao, 808-572-9576.

KINGSTON 'FIRE BURNING' ON SOPHOMORE ALBUM
GIRLS! GIRLS! GIRLS!
The Sean Kingston we encounter on new CD "Tomorrow" (Epic) is a little more mature than the 17-year-old who made a big splash in 2007, but he's still enchanted with beautiful girls. The cuddlesome Jamaican Romeo's second album finds him looking for love or at least company for the evening in all the club places. His lighthearted, dancehall-flavored R&B is engaging, if repetitive, with chantable choruses and recurring themes. Producers such as mentor J.R. Rotem, Lady Gaga collaborator RedOne and Wyclef Jean give Kingston plenty of party-starting beats.
After scoring three top 10 pop hits with his self-titled debut, Kingston (below) proves his appeal hasn't waned with first single "Fire Burning," a thumping, synth-fueled dance jam in which he marvels at a shorty so hot, he needs somebody to "call 911." Follow-up hit "Face Drop" is about getting the last laugh on a superficial ex-girlfriend. Download: "My Girlfriend," "Magical."

FRONT-LOADED VITALITY
Pearl Jam's "Backspacer" (Universal) backtracks to the taut punk attack of 1998's "Yield" and the atom-collider G-force of 1994's "Spin the Black Circle." The band's twin-guitar aneurysms and drum fusillades flood the grooves with fist-pumping joy in "Got Some," "The Fixer" and "Johnny Guitar" - and Eddie Vedder's commanding vocals, whether revving up to a rebel shout or simmering on a vulnerable croon, hold the mayhem in check. Download: "Got Some," "Gonna See My Friend," "The End," "Amongst the Waves," "Supersonic."

EAR CANDY
What fun! With "Wild Young Hearts" (Mercury), dynamic vocalist Shingai Shoniwa of the Noisettes leads the British trio in a near-perfect synthesis of disco, funk, '60s soul, power pop, Phil Spector-ish girl-group sass and Shirley Bassey bombast. From the opening handclaps to the fearless sex-kitten vocals and smart lyrics throughout, the package is irresistible. Oh, what a summer album this would have made. Download: "Wild Young Hearts," "Don't Upset the Rhythm," "Never Forget You," "Saturday Night," "24 Hours," "Cheap Kicks."
