A 6.6 magnitude earthquake that hit the island of Mindanao in the Philippines today did not produce a threat of a tsunami, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Ewa Beach.

Early news reports said the quake was recorded at 6:58 p.m. local time with the epicenter at 57 miles southwest of Cotabato city.
