NFL: Browns running back Davis out for season
Associated Press
CLEVELAND — Browns rookie running back James Davis will miss the rest of the season with a shoulder injury.
The team placed Davis, a sixth-round pick from Clemson, on injured reserve on Saturday and signed running back Chris Jennings to the active roster from the practice squad.
Davis, who led Cleveland in rushing during the exhibition season, got hurt in the season opener against Minnesota on a hit by cornerback Antoine Winfield. He was inactive the following week in Denver and rushed for 10 yards on five carries in Baltimore.
The Browns are thin at running back going into Sunday's game against Cincinnati. Jamal Lewis is listed as doubtful with a hamstring injury.
Jennings was signed to the Browns' practice squad on Sept. 7.
