A pink silk dress worn by Jacqueline Kennedy during her second holiday season in the White House went on display yester-day at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston.

The first lady wore the dress to the White House staff Christmas reception on Dec. 12, 1962. The sleeveless dress by designer Hubert de Givenchy is simple in front, with twists of drapery and a bow on the back.

The Marine Band and singing groups from the Air Force, Army and Navy entertained the 1,200 party guests. A 16-foot Christmas tree was decorated with toys, candy canes and gingerbread houses.

DYING KENNEDY FOCUSED ON OBAMA'S DAY

The widow of Sen. Edward Kennedy told Oprah Winfrey in an interview broadcast yesterday (excerpts had aired earlier on news programs) that even as her husband knew he was dying of brain cancer, he was "in training" to make sure he had enough strength to attend President Obama's inauguration.

In the most extensive interview since her husband's death in August, Vicki Kennedy said she won't run for her husband's former U.S. Senate seat and described how he battled brain cancer.

But she wouldn't talk about the last thing he said to her before dying.

"I think I'll just keep that one to myself," she told Winfrey on "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

'STARS' PRO HOOFING OFF TO BROADWAY

Donny Osmond was the celebrity winner on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," but his professional dancing partner already has her next gig lined up — Broadway.

Kym Johnson will make her Broadway debut tomorrow in "Burn the Floor," a hot-blooded ballroom dance show at the Longacre Theatre, producer Harley Medcalf announced yesterday. Osmond and Johnson also mentioned her new gig in their victory appearance yesterday on "Good Morning, America."

She will be partnered with Maksim Chmerkovskiy, another "Stars" pro. He opened "Burn the Floor" on Broadway in August. Johnson and Chmerkovskiy will be on Broadway through Jan. 10.

POLANSKI GRANTED BAIL IN SWITZERLAND

Roman Polanski has been granted $4.5 million bail, clearing the way for the fugitive director to move within days from a Swiss jail to house arrest and electronic monitoring at his Alpine chalet in the Gstaad resort.

The justice minister said yesterday she saw no reason to appeal the decision by the Swiss court. Polanski, 76, would have to remain in Switzerland as authorities decide whether to extradite him to the U.S. for having sex in Los Angeles in 1977 with a 13-year-old girl.

Polanski was arrested in Switzerland on Sept. 26.

Polanski fled the United States on Feb. 1, 1978, the day he was to be sentenced on a conviction of unlawful sexual intercourse.
