Flood advisory issued for Maui in effect until midnight
The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for the island of Maui at 9:06 p.m. that will be in effect until midnight.
A thunderstorm moving ashore at 10 mph near Hana in East Maui is expected to bring heavy rainfall in the vicinity of 3 to 4 inches of rain per hour in the next few hours.
Hamoa, Keanae, and Kipahulu are also included in the advisory, which may be extended if conditions of heavy rain persist.
The National Weather Service advises residents to avoid streams, drainage ditches, and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
