Boil-water advisory lifted for Hanalei, Kapaa

The Kauaçi Department of Water yesterday canceled its “boil water” notice for Hanalei residents after certified laboratory results showed an absence of harmful bacteria in samples collected.
The department also canceled its “boil water” notice for residents on Waipouli and Hauiki roads in Kapaa after laboratory results showed the absence of Fecal coliform or E coli bacteria from samples collected.
It is no longer necessary for area residents to boil water for human consumption.
The agency on Monday issued the “boil water” notice for Hanalei after a water storage tank was refilled following pump repairs. Officials at the time said turbulence in the newly filled tanks may send dirty water into the pipelines.
County officials thanked Princeville Utilities, the state Department of Health and the American Red Cross for their assistance, as well as the Department of Public Works Hanalei base yard personnel for providing potable water to Hanalei residents.
