Rainbow Wahine end regular season with victory over Utah State

Kanani Danielson and Aneli Cubi-Otineru both had career nights tonight as third-ranked Hawai'I closed its regular season with a 25-19, 22-25, 25-19, 25-13 volleyball victory over Utah State.

The Western Athletic Conference match was played at Smith Spectrum, in Logan, Utah.
The Rainbow Wahine (26-2, 16-0) have won 22 in a row going into the WAC Tournament, which starts Monday in Las Vegas. The 'Bows have a bye in the opening round. They have won the last 11 WAC championships. This is the 12th time they have finished the conference season unbeaten.
Danielson, a sophomore All-American, shattered her career high with 32 kills against the Aggies - 10 more than her previous best. She also hit .446. Cubi-Otineru, a senior, tied her career high with 22 kills, including five of Hawai'I's final six. She hit .462 and got a double-double with 11 digs.
The ' Bows broke away early in the opening set, scoring seven in a row on Stephanie Brandt's serve. But it was USU that broke away in the second, becoming only the third WAC team to take a set off UH this season.
Hawai'I did not give Utah State another chance. UH blew to a 12-7 lead in Set 3, when Danielson had 10 kills. The Rainbows scored eight of the first 10 points in Set 4, when they outhit USU, .368 to .067.
