EAT OUT, DO GOOD

The second annual Restaurant Week kicks off Monday, and this year there are about 60 reasons to leave the cooking to the professionals. More than five dozen local restaurants are participating in Restaurant Week by offering special chef dinners and other dining promotions, with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the Culinary Institute of the Pacific at Diamond Head.

And you don't have to splurge (but you're welcome to if you want) to support the cause. All kinds of eateries — from fast-food joints like Popeye's and diners like Wailana Coffee House, to the spendier spots like Roy's and Wolfgang's Steakhouse, and everything in between — are participating in the event.

For a complete list of participating restaurants, along with the specific ways each restaurant is choosing to celebrate Restaurant Week, including chefs' dinner specials and prix-fixe specials, log on to www.restaurantweekhawaii.com.

FUNNY GIRL

SAIL AWAY

Take the party to the open ocean with the fourth annual Moonlight Yacht Party. It's like a nightclub, only it floats. The boat sets sail at 10:30 tonight from Pier 5 ($30, www.firewaterevents.com).

DOWN WITH THE THROWDOWNS

Maui band The Throwdowns scored the opening act gig for Band Camp VII, which this year features pop rock group (and "Grey's Anatomy" unofficial music mascot) The Fray and Panic! At The Disco (see story and details on Page 20). The Throwdowns promise to rock the crowd like "Mauna Kea erupting."
