Chef Mavro greets the arrival of 2009 Beaujolais Nouveau
On the heels of its "Juilie & Julia" boeuf bourguignon promotion, award-winning Chef Mavro restaurant is offering another short-term special fixed price menu, this one to celebrate the release of what is said to be "the best Beaujolais Nouveau in 50 years."
Beginning Nov. 19 and continuing through Dec. 5, the restaurant will offer a limited number of seats for a three-course, $59-per-person menu paired with the new Georges Duboeuf wines.
The menu includes an appetizers of sauteed mushrooms with green papaya and watercress, a main course of crispy suckling pig with Molokai sweet potato puree and a dessert of Big Island Meyer lemon curd and Japanese cheesecake. Also included are Chef Mavro's signature amuse bouche, palate cleanser and candies. Wine pairings are optional.
Beaujolais Nouveau is a young red wine made from handpicked Gamay grapes; it's aged very briefly and meant to be enjoyed "young."
