Bills' McGee injures arm

Associated Press

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Buffalo Bills starting cornerback Terrence McGee hurt his right arm when he tumbled to the turf while defending receiver Terrell Owens during a voluntary minicamp practice yesterday.

McGee was hurt about 30 minutes into the 90-minute session and did not return after entering the trainer's room. Bills coach Dick Jauron did not have an update on the player's injury following practice.

During team drills, McGee was shadowing Owens up the sideline when the two went up for a pass. Owens initially caught the ball but had it ripped out by McGee. The two then fell to the ground with Owens partially landing on the cornerback.

With Owens looking on, McGee lay on the turf for a few minutes before getting up on his own while favoring his shoulder.

"It was just a competitive play," Owens said. "He did what he was trying to do to break it up, and I was trying to make a play on it."

Cornerback Leodis McKelvin did not practice because of a hand injury, which is expected to force him to miss the final two days of this week's minicamp, which concludes tomorrow. The Bills' first-round draft pick last year, McKelvin was in street clothes while watching practice from the sideline.

Buffalo is counting on McKelvin to compete for a starting job opposite McGee after losing free agent Jabari Greer to New Orleans this offseason.

RB JONES RETURNS

New York Jets running back Thomas Jones has rejoined his teammates after boycotting voluntary workouts while in a contract dispute.

Jones, who led the AFC with 1,312 yards rushing last season, was on the field yesterday at Florham Park, N.J. for organized team activities after sitting out the Jets' previous six OTAs and minicamp.

The Pro Bowl running back is entering the third year of a four-year, $20 million deal, which was front-loaded with $13.1 million over the first two seasons. He's scheduled to make only $900,000 in base salary this season.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus announced last week on Twitter that Jones would attend the session yesterday, but offered no further information whether an agreement on a restructured deal is in place.

STEELERS

SON OUT OF HOSPITAL

The agent of Steelers linebacker James Harrison says the player's young son has been released from a Pittsburgh hospital after an attack by his father's pit bull.

Harrison's agent, William Parise, says 2-year-old James Harrison III was released late Tuesday afternoon. He says the boy is doing fine and that his father missed practice yesterday to be with his son.

The boy was bitten on the thigh after his mother let the dog out of its pen Thursday afternoon. She also was injured by the dog, as was Harrison's massage therapist, who needed three stitches.

Parise says he's trying to find a place for the dog so it doesn't have to be euthanized.
