Waianae club loses dirt-bike trailer to thieves
A budding community outreach dirt-bike program for teens at risk in Waiçanae suffered a disappointing setback on Saturday when thieves made off with the club’s dirt-bike trailer. Activities for about a dozen kids in the program are now on hold until the trailer can be recovered, said Michael Fister, director of the program.
Fister said the reconditioned, black, three-ramp trailer with white hubcaps had been chained and locked down at a location in Mäkaha. But the culprits used a cutter to snap open the gate and then steal the trailer in the wee hours of the morning.
A police report was filed after the break-in was discovered, and Fister said he hopes the public will be on the lookout. He’s asking for anyone with information about the missing trailer to e-mail mrmikala@aol.com.
