$20.9M in Hawaii wastewater projects announced
The city is prepared to spend nearly $20.9 million to improve wastewater systems in Kailua, Käneçohe and Honolulu.
Mayor Mufi Hannemann said three companies were the apparent low bidders on the projects, including a $10.95 million project to control odors at the Kailua Wastewater Treatment Plant that has been a source of foul odor that has sicken school children next door.
Other projects include $6.64 million to rehabilitate collection lines for Kahanu, School, and Umi streets in Honolulu and $3.31 million for rehabilitation of lines at Kailua Beach Park, Kaneohe Yacht Club, Bay View Golf Course and Oneawa Street.
