Ocean rower and environmentalist Roz Savage is scheduled to begin the second stage of an ambitious bid to become the first woman to row solo across the Pacific Ocean tomorrow from the Waikiki Yacht Club.
Last year, Baker became the first woman to row solo from California to Hawaiçi, a 2,700-mile journey that took 99 days. Tomorrow, Baker will begin a journey to another South Pacific island, likely Tuvalu. Next year, she will attempt the final leg to Australia.
Baker is using her journeys to draw attention to environmental issues, such as reducing the use of disposable plastic and addressing climate change.
