Oh, baby — it's all about the keiki this weekend

It's a parent's dream and a single guy's nightmare (we're joking ... really).
Yes, we're talking the New Baby Expo 2009 taking place this weekend at Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.
And truth be told, even if you're a single guy looking for a baby gift for that friend who recently became a new mom or dad, you'll find it here among the new baby products (check out the state's largest baby shower), keiki contests (like the Ohana Daze Crawling Contest) and demonstrations (like infant massages and car-seat safety).
The Expo was created as a sort of one-stop shopping center that caters to expectant moms and families, with more than 150 exhibitor booths offering the latest in new products and services.
Some of this weekend's highlights:
GET YOUR CRAWL ON
If you go, check out the Ohana Daze Crawling Contest at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Pikake Room. Registration starts at 12:45 and is limited to the first 80 entrants. Every contestant gets a T-shirt, with prizes for the top three finishers.
SHOWER WITH A FRIEND
It's being dubbed Hawai'i's largest baby shower, so expectant parents need to be at the Pikake Room at 1 p.m. Sunday. There will be games, prizes and the first 500 pregnant moms get a special baby shower gift bag.
ACTIVITIES ABOUND
There will be a beautiful baby photo contest, appearances by Super Why, Blue from NOGGIN's Blue Room and Curious George.
THEY THOUGHT OF EVERYTHING
There will be a mother-baby rest area designed specifically to give moms a break and as a private area where they can nurse their infants.
Another area that's going to be popular is the designated changing areas because, well, even a single guy knows to expect a few "oops" at an expo catering to moms and their babies.
The third designated spot is for those who don't want to shop (read: us guys) who are often told to watch the keiki while moms are turned loose on the exhibits. There will be a few play areas with age-appropriate toys where keiki can have some fun and wear each other out.
MINIVAN ROW
Admit it: if your family is growing, your compact car or convertible just won't cut it, so check out the latest and greatest family cars currently on the market.
