Bicyclists will get free admission to Honolulu Zoo on Sunday.

Bike to the Zoo Day runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will be free bike parking at the zoo, and the first 200 bicyclists will get a free tote bag.

The event is meant to encourage people to ride bicycles for short trips instead of driving.

"We hope this fun, free event will help people realize the potential of the bicycle as a vehicle for these types of shorter, utilitarian trips around town," Mayor Mufi Hannemann said.
