ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Cardinals have placed outfielder Ryan Ludwick on the 15-day disabled list for a strained right hamstring.
The team recalled outfielder Nick Stavinoha from Memphis (AAA) for play as early as Wednesday night's game in Pittsburgh.
The 27-year-old Stavinoha was batting .264 with a team-high four home runs, 25 RBI (T9th in Pacific Coast League) and .427 slugging percentage in 30 games for Memphis.
Stavinoha was drafted by the Cardinals in 2005 and appeared in 29 games for St. Louis last season as a rookie.
