$1.5 million will go to boost security at two state harbors
Gov. Linda Lingle has released $1.5 million in construction money for perimeter fencing and security improvements at Kalaeloa Barbers Point Harbor and Honolulu Harbor.
Work at Kalaeloa will include installing a permanent guard shack at the main entrance and a portable guard shack.
At Honolulu Harbor, construction includes installing perimeter fencing that is at least eight feet high, 14 new gates and three portable guard shacks, which will be used to control access points during heightened security levels.
The total cost of the project is estimated at $1,684,440.
