Honolulu firefighters extinguished a small fire in the basement laundry room of the Queen Kapi'olani Hotel on Kapahulu Avenue.

Honolulu Fire Department spokesperson Capt. Terry Seelig said the fire, reported at 8:11 p.m. and brought under control by 8:30, was contained to a drier in the facility.

Hotel occupants evacuated their rooms until the fire was under control. Seelig said a few people complained of respiratory problems from smoke but no serious injuries were reported.
