WAIPI'O — East will meet West in tonight's championship game.

Lindsay Takekawa drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Roosevelt to a 2-1 win over Castle in last night's semifinals of the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red Conference softball playoffs at Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park.

The Rough Riders (13-1), the East's No. 1 seed, will face West No. 1 Mililani (12-2) in tonight's 7:30 championship game. Mililani, which has won the last two OIA Red championships, defeated Kapolei, 8-3, in another semifinal game last night.

The White championship game between Waialua (10-1-1) and Kaiser (12-0-1) will be held prior to the Red championship, at 5. Both games will be televised live statewide on OC16.

"Coach, he's very supportive, he said I've got to believe in myself and that this is my time," Takekawa said.

Lianna Bajarin, who pitched a five-hitter, walked to lead off the seventh and advanced to second on Paika Frank's sacrifice. Kathleen Nakata then lined a shot off the tip of the third baseman's glove, allowing Bajarin to reach third, before scoring on Takekawa's hit.

"I knew I was going (to score)," Bajarin said. "But we needed to work hard first."

Castle pitcher Chandelle Dacosin threw a four-hitter in the loss. Castle (11-4) hosts Kapolei (11-4) in today's third-place game at 3 p.m.

The Knights led 1-0 after Brooke Ka'ulula'au led off the top of the fourth with a double to left field. After Alyssa Cipriano popped out, Ka'ulula'au scored on Leisha Li'ili'i's RBI single that danced along the first-base line and into the outfield.

With Li'ili'i on second, Kaisha Dacosin lined out to Roosevelt second baseman Hayley Luke, who doubled off Li'ili'i to end the inning.

Bajarin hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at 1-1.

"Our coach talked to us, to be humble and just stick it through and we did it," Bajarin said.

Bajarin's wild pitch allowed Brittany Hawn to move from first to second in the top of the fifth. But Takekawa, the catcher, threw out Hawn at third on an attempted steal for the inning's second out.

"I was a little sketchy about (my throw), but hey, it was a good call and it benefited us," Takekawa said.

Kaisha Dacosin then walked and Malina Manning followed with a single to center. The throw from the center fielder got past second base, but Bajarin got the ball and threw to third in an attempt to get Dacosin out. Dacosin was safe at third, but Roosevelt third baseman Brianne Leong threw to second to get Manning out and end the inning.

With one out in the sixth, Ka'ulula'au singled to left field and then was sacrificed to second by Cipriano. But Bajarin got Li'ili'i to ground out to end the inning.
