Nalani Choy

How we see her: Feminine, sophisticated, elegant.

What we chose: Nicole Miller halter top dress ($375), Kate Spade gold ankle-strap sandals ($298) and chandelier earrings ($290). Her own Hawaiian bracelets would finish it off.

Angela Morales

How we see her: Earth mother, hippie chic, fun-loving.

What we chose: At right, Tory Burch crochet tunic ($450), with a raspberry camisole underneath ($72), Marni spring flower bracelet ($460) and Marni flats ($615). This whole look can be dressed down with jeans or dressed up with a long flowing skirt.

Lehua Heine

How we see her: Eclectic, athletic, empowered.

What we chose: She loves scarves and the highest heels she can manage, so we selected, below, an Emilio Pucci purple scarf ($190), Stuart Weitzman gladiator heels ($365), purple faux croc belt ($150) and a Piazza Sempione cardigan ($605) she can wear with her favorite black jeans or a pencil skirt.

Just in time for their Mother's Day concert, the ladies of Na Leo decided it was time for a little touch-up. In fact, they harmonized, it might even be time for a makeover. Enter Aveda Salon and Spa in Ala Moana Center. Hairstylists and makeup artists jumped at the chance to work with the talented trio.

WHAT TO WEAR

We thought it would be fun to choose some pretty pieces to style Na Leo, on stage or off. Although the Na Leo look has usually been casual and Hawaiian, we wanted to kick it up a notch this spring. Here's how we would style them if we were given free rein.

NALANI CHOY

Age: 42

Neighborhood: 'Alewa

Mother of: Kaha'i, 19, Pono, 15, and Aulani, 11

What to change? "I'm really open."

Worst fashion faux pas? "The mullet in the '90s. Well, not quite a mullet, but it was getting there."

Hair: Dayna Umemoto

Makeup: Shannon Lazenby

Makeover tips: Umemoto gave Choy red and blonde highlights, but tucked the blonde highlights underneath. This makes the look easy to grow out.

Lazenby used darker shadows on the outside of Choy's eyes to separate the eyes and lift them, like a non-surgical eye lift.

Gotta have: Eye shadows in Jasmine (all over the lid) and Black Tulip (for contouring in the crease).

ANGELA MORALES

Age: 42

Neighborhood: Wai'anae

Mother of: Solomon, 22, Sasha, 21, Sheldeen, 20, and Kaimana, 8 — and grandmother of Kamo'i, 19 months

What to change? "I would really like to color my hair. I also want to wear it natural, but without looking dry or frayed. If I blow my hair out, it just grows on stage."

Worst fashion faux pas: "The day before graduation, my mom took me to a salon owner who cut my hair so I looked like a poodle."

Hair: Keano Kaupu

Makeup: Shannon Lazenby

Makeover tips: Adding a drop of violet blue to the hair color will tone down the ash and keep it warm. To control frizz, Kaupu used Curl Control on wet hair. To get more shine, he added Brilliant Emollient Finishing Gloss and finally Brilliant Universal Styling Cream to smooth and calm the hair.

Gotta have: Curl Control, Brilliant Finishing Gloss and Universal Styling Cream, and Blushed Honey lipstick with peppermint, basil and cinnamon to plump lips.

LEHUA HEINE

Age: 43

Neighborhood: Nu'uanu

Mother of: Malie, 8, Kalamaku, 6, and Kialoa, 2

What to change? "I'd like my hair kept semi-long, but maybe with side-swept bangs."

Worst fashion faux pas: "In seventh grade my friends gave me Farrah Fawcett bangs."

Hair: Taryn Lee

Makeup: Shannon Lazenby

Makeover tips: Lee gave Heine long layers so Heine can put it up when paddling or kickboxing, and wear it straight by using a flat iron or curly by letting it dry naturally.

Lazenby applied foundation with a brush to keep it sheer and natural, and make it easier to blend. Bonus: Add a little shimmer to the powder.

Gotta have: Aveda Immersion with moisture hair spa, an in-salon treatment, and Damage Remedy Restructuring shampoo and conditioner for dry hair.
