As many as three lanes of the H-1 Freeway airport viaduct will be closed Sunday through Friday as the Department of Transportation continues its concrete repair work for the area.

From 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, the three left-most lanes westbound will be closed from the Airport on-ramp to the Kamehameha Highway/Aloha Stadium/Arizona Memorial off-ramp (Exit 15a).

From 6 p.m. each evening to 5 a.m. the next morning Monday through Thursday, the three right-most lanes eastbound between the Hickam Air Force Base offramp (Exit 15) and the Airport offramp (Exit 16) will be closed.

All on- and off-ramps will remain open during construction hours. Single lane closures may also be implemented on Nimitz Highway below the viaduct as a safety precaution.

The scheduled roadwork is part of a $9.1 million project to repair pavement along a nearly three-mile stretch of the H-1 Freeway airport viaduct (top deck) between Middle Street and Valkenburgh Street. Crews will use a fast-forming concrete to fill in potholes. To minimize vibrations along the viaduct while the concrete cures, the speed limit near the repair area will be reduced to 15 mph. Special duty police officers will be on-site to enforce this speed limit.

Motorists are advised to use caution while driving through the work area, to allow for extra travel time or to use alternate routes including Moanalua Freeway or Nimitz Highway.
