HALONA BLOW HOLE
Man dies after rescue from waters off Halona Blow Hole

An unidentified man died after rescue personnel pulled him from waters off the Halona Blow Hole yesterday afternoon.

Police said the victim, a man in his 40s or 50s, was seen floating about 300 yards offshore about 2 p.m. City lifeguards recovered the man's lifeless body and began CPR, police said.

The man was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, where he later died, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department. Cheplic said it was not immediately known how the man wound up in the water.

Police classified the case as an unattended death pending the outcome of an autopsy.
